When was Holy Ghost Received?

John 20:22 - And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
Luke 24:49 - And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
Acts 2:4 - And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

John vs. Luke

When did the disciples receive the Holy Ghost? John was in the upper room, Luke was not.

The Bible does not say that they received the Holy Ghost at the time that Christ breathed on them; He repeatedly said that "the comforter" (the Holy Ghost) could not come unless He went away. The simplest explanation is that Christ's breathing on them was a precursor or a hint of what was to come, bu obviously not the filling of the Holy Spirit at all.
