This is a common contradiction amongst scoffers. Probably the order of events went like this; Judas betrayed Jesus, and after feeling remorse rid himself of the blood-money by casting it down. He then went and hung himself by a rope which may have snapped, dropping his body down upon rocks which would have torn his body, and thus causing him to burst assunder.

The bible doesn't state how he actually died. He either died from the hanging or he died during the fall. "If" both accounts state that he died then it would be a contradiction, but that is not the case. I agree with the prior post as a possibility. But another way to look at it is: He died from the hanging and his body was cut down and disposed of in the very field purchased with his blood money. when they cast his body upon the rocks it burst asunder.

This is so simple. Like the post before me it is close to the truth. Understand, you need to know all scripture to understand scripture. The first fours books in the new testament if you put them all together you can get the full time line on how things went, but if you separate them its harder to understand what had happened and when. So its easy to take the bible apart with ignorance. There are no contradictions in the King James Bible. Judas hanged himself and yes he did die. This is where you need to know about the human anatomy to understand what had happen. He was dead and no one took care of the body so it bloated. We do not know how long he hanged there. We do know he was hanging there for at least two days. It would depend on the temperature, etc.. Most likely we was hanging there till the first Sabbath had ended, or at least the weekly Sabbath was over with, then they took him down. We know he was dropped from at least a small hill or was pushed off a cart headfirst. It really doesn't take much for the stomach to burst when its bloated. It could have also happened when they tried to take down the body. One could imagine them trying to cut down the body without dropping it, but the one who cuts he rope does end up dropping the body so it fell head first. The point is that he was hanging there a few days before anyone took him down. He was bloated and when they dropped him, he went head first. His stomach then burst open and the rest you can imagine it for yourself.
