Did Michal have children?
Posted By: Adam Engesath on 5/19/06
2 Samuel 6:23 Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.
2 Samuel 21:8 But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bare unto Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she brought up for Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite:
"Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death" vs. "...and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she brought up for Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite:"

Michal doesn't bear any children herself, but she is apparently raising someone else's five sons (Adriel's children).

I'm not exactly sure why Michal raised these kids, but perhaps Adriel died and Michal decided to adopt them. Even though I don't know why she is raising them, the point is that both statements are correct as written.

If you read in 1 Samuel 18:19-20, Saul had 2 daughters, Merab, the older one and Michal, the younger one. It was Merab who was actually given to Adriel the Meholathite as wife, not Michal. So Michal did not have any children.
