Problem
Does Jesus Bear Record of Himself?
The alleged problem is that Jesus contradicts himself; these two verses supposedly contradict each other.

John 5:31 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
John 8:14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.

Remember that Jesus was both man, and God, God in the flesh(1 Timothy 3:16, Phillipians 2:6-9).

When he said "If I testify about myself, my testimony is not valid" He is talking about the human nature in him testifying, which would not be valid. But when he says "I am he which testifies of hmiself" he is talking about his divine nature, indicating that he is God in the flesh, or in human form, because a man cannot testify of himself, he needs 2 witnesses.
