How could Moses esteem the reproach of Christ, when he was born two thousand years later? Does this verse prove that people are saved the same way in the OT and NT? | Date: May 24, 2006 By: Mrs E 15 Problems1 Solution | References | | Hebrews 11:26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward. | | User Solutions/Comments | | Date: Jun 9, 2006 | Posted By: Preacher | There has always been only one way for man to be reconciled to God. That is through the Lord Jesus Christ. Old Testament Saints were not saved by the law for the law cannot justify or make us righteous in the sight of God. Paul said that the law was simply a schoolmaster that shows us our sin and need for a Saviour.
As soon as Adam and Eve sinned God shed the blood of animals to make a covering for them, to cover their shame. This was a picture of what Christ would do. He suffered and died to cover or wash away our sins. The O.T. Saints understood that Christ would come - they believed this and it was counted to them as righteousness.
The O.T. Saints were saved on "lay-a-way". When they died they went to Paradise, waiting for Christ to come. N.T. Saints go straight to heaven when they die because Christ has already come. | | Post a solution! |
