Men often were designated more than one name in the scripture. I Chronicles 3:5 names the 4 sons of Josiah. Shallum is clearly Jehoahaz just as Eliakim's name (another son of Josiah) was changed to Jehoiakim in II Kings 23:34. In the New Testament you have Simon called Peter (Matthew 4:18) and Saul called Paul (Acts 13:9), John surnamed Mark (Acts 12:25), etc. And most people I know have two names, commonly called "middle" names. | | Post a solution! |
