The Years

Born 1996 BC
“In the year 2008 of the world, was Abram born”
Died 1821 BC
“Abraham, when he was 175 years old”

Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran (Genesis 11:26): Ussher takes seventy as the age at which his sons began to be born, Haran the eldest. Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran (Genesis 12:4), after his father was dead (Acts 7:4), and Terah died at two hundred and five (Genesis 11:32). So Terah was an hundred and thirty when Abram was born.

Dated by Archbishop James Ussher’s Annals of the World (1658), quoted as printed, whose dates were printed in the margins of King James Bibles for two centuries.
