Darius the son of Hystaspes, king of Persia. Ussher takes him for the Ahasuerus of Esther (Esther 1:1), whose third, seventh, and twelfth years fall as his (Esther 1:3; 2:16; 3:7).
Dated by Archbishop James Ussher’s Annals of the World (1658), quoted as printed, whose dates were printed in the margins of King James Bibles for two centuries.
