What the Bible Says

  • “these forty and five years, even since the LORD spake this word unto Moses” Joshua 14:10

Each year here fits these numbers, as the years between the points they count from.

The Years

The Year 1445 BC
“Josuah, now grown old”

Caleb was forty when he was sent from Kadesh-barnea and fourscore and five at the division (Joshua 14:7, 10). Ussher reads the "about the space of four hundred and fifty years" of Acts 13:20 as the time before this, from the birth of Isaac: "for from the birth of the promised seed Isaac, to this time, are reckoned, 452. yeares: and from the rejection of Ishmael, 447. but between both, we may count, 450. years."

Dated by Archbishop James Ussher’s Annals of the World (1658), quoted as printed, whose dates were printed in the margins of King James Bibles for two centuries.
