The Years

From Herod’s death in 1 BC. Ussher: 4 BC
“having enjoyed the kingdom 34 years after he had killed Antigonus”
Ended AD 34
“Philip the Tetrarch alwayes reputed a modest man, and a lover of ease and quietness, died in the twentieth year of Tiberius”

His brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis (Luke 3:1), from his father's death, early in 1 BC. He governed thirty-seven years, Ussher writes from Josephus, dying in the twentieth year of Tiberius: years counted from 4 BC (see Archelaus).

Changes from Ussher

Where the year isn’t Ussher’s, the text sets it, and the note says how. Ussher’s years and sentences are from his Annals of the World (1658), quoted as printed.
