The Years
- Began AD 12

Tiberius Caesar (Luke 3:1), counted from his reigning with Augustus, two years before Augustus died: Ussher's "15 year of the principality of Tiberius Caesar, (which was the 13 of his monarchy, begun from the death of Augustus)." Roman coins and inscriptions count his years from Augustus’s death in AD 14, which puts the fifteenth year in AD 28 to 29, too late for a baptism three years and a half before the cross; no coin or inscription counts them from his reigning with Augustus, but the historians tell of it: Augustus gave him equal power with himself over the provinces and the armies (Velleius Paterculus 2.121; Suetonius, Tiberius 21).
Dated by Archbishop James Ussher’s Annals of the World (1658), quoted as printed, whose dates were printed in the margins of King James Bibles for two centuries.
