Problem

Will the Earth last for ever or be destroyed?

Psalms 104:5 - Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.
2 Peter 3:10 - But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

In Psalms, the Lord has founded the earth that it shouldn't be removed for ever, but in II Peter God is destroying the earth. How can something be established for ever and then be destroyed?

It does not say that the earth as we know it will last forever, its says the "FOUNDATIONS" of the earth will last forever, which means something that is founded. The earth can be destroyed and a new earth comes without destroying the foundations, because the earth will still be existant, just the old one will pass away. No contradiction because it does not break "the foundation" of the earth.
